🌍 Nach Jahren in der Welt, wird es Zeit den eigenen Kontinent in den Blick zu nehmen. So wie ich es am liebsten mag: mit dem Rad, im Bikepacking-Stil, Zelt und einer Kamera.
🚴♂️ Ich starte Ende nächster Woche auf den „European Connection Trail“, wohl eine der längsten Gravelrouten des Kontinents.
🇪🇺 Es ist eine von mir um fünf Länder erweiterte Variante des Divide Trails. Und das alles um ein authentisches Gefühl dafür zu bekommen, was diesen Kontinent ausmacht und verbindet – European Connection eben.

Ich finde: es ist Zeit für positive Geschichten aus Europa. Denn ich überquere auf Schotterwegen, kulturelle, politische, wirtschaftliche und ökologische Grenzen. Als geborener Ostdeutscher: eine Freiheit, die es lohnt zu würdigen.

Here we go. After years of traveling the world, it’s time to focus on my own continent. Just the way I like it best: by bike, bikepacking style, with a tent and a camera.
At the end of next week, I’ll be setting off on the European Connection Trail, probably one of the longest gravel routes on the continent. It’s a variation of the Divide Trail that I’ve extended to include five countries. And all this to get an authentic feel for what makes this continent special and what connects it – the European Connection, in other words.
Start: August 11, 2025, Grense Jakobself, northern Norway.
Stopover 1: September 2nd, Globetrotter store, Hamburg.
Stopover 2: September 9th, European Parliament, Strasbourg.
Stopover 3: September 17th, ‚Boltaña’/Spain European IMBA Summit
Finish: approx. September 28th, ‘Cabo de São Vicente’/Portugal

I think it’s time for positive stories from Europe. Because I’m crossing cultural, political, economic, and ecological borders on gravel roads. As someone born in East Germany, this is a freedom that is worth appreciating. What better way to experience what moves Europe than from the saddle of a bike?.
