Diary 2 – European Connection Trail – Central Europe (English below):
Als Journalist und Filmemacher gravel und dokumentiere ich im bikepacking Stil insgesamt 7.000km, den längsten Trail meines Lebens – den ‚European Connection Trail‘.
Vom äußersten Nordosten, bis zum äußersten Südwesten des europäischen Kontinents.
Im Video Diary 2 bin ich bereits bis Spanien gekommen. Unzählige Einladungen, aber auch drei Veranstaltungen: ein Get together bei Globetrotter in Hamburg, eine Einladung mit Pressekonferenz im Europaparlament und einer Keynote beim europäischen MTB Kongress IBMA Summit in Boltana/ Spanien, haben meine Reise mit geprägt.
Viele Nächte im Zelt, manchmal in einer Pension um Akkus zu laden, zum Sachen waschen, oder zu duschen.
Es gab so viele Highlights die gar nicht ins Diary gefunden haben… die Stierhatzen im französischen Rhone Delta, in Camargue, wo die Stiere von Reitern durch den Ort getrieben werden… Ich wusste bis daher nicht, dass es außerhalb Spaniens ähnliches gibt.
Aber auch die Kletterpartie durch die Pyrenäen und Andorra hindurch. Ein Land was ich in Europa noch nie besucht hatte.
Dankbar war ich auch über die Einladung für eine Keynote zum IMBA Europa Kongress der MTB Community. Ein äußerst dankbares und aufgeschlossenes Fachpublikum aus 22 Nationen.

Ansonsten überquere ich weiterhin auf Schotterwegen kulturelle, politische, wirtschaftliche und ökologische Grenzen, alles um ein authentisches Gefühl dafür zu bekommen, was diesen Kontinent, was Europa ausmacht.

Die meisten der Menschen, mit welchen ich entlang der Route ins Gespräch komme, erzählen mir in kurzen Interviews, über ihr Leben und wie sie Europa wahrnehmen und was sie sich von Europa wünschen würden. Ich nenne die Interview Serie „People of Europe“ und einzelne sind derzeit auf meinem Instagram unter weinbergmarkus anzusehen.

Die ECT Route startete in Grense Jakobselv in Nord-Norwegen, an der russischen Grenze und endet nach 14 Ländern, am Cabo de Sao Vicente in Portugal.

As a gravel journalist and filmmaker, I’m documenting a total of 7,000km, the longest trail of my life – the ‚European Connection Trail‘ – in bikepacking style.
From the far northeast to the far southwest of the European continent.
In Diary 2, I’ve already made it to Spain. Countless invitations, but also three events: a get-together at Globetrotter in Hamburg, an invitation to a press conference at the European Parliament, and a keynote speech at the European MTB Congress IBMA Summit in Boltana, Spain, have shaped my journey.

Often on gravel roads, I cross cultural, political, economic, and ecological borders, all to gain an authentic sense of what defines this continent, what defines Europe.
„Europe needs positive stories.“
Most of the people I meet along the route talk to me in short interviews about their lives, how they perceive Europe, and what they would like to see in Europe. I’m calling the interview series „People of Europe,“ and some of them can currently be viewed on my Instagram account under weinbergmarkus.

The ECT route started in Grense Jakobselv in northern Norway, on the Russian border, and ended after 14 countries at Cabo de Sao Vicente in Portugal.
